Amazon's Blue Origin announce space test from Fast Feed
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' space project Blue Origin have announced unmanned sub-orbital test later this year.
Blue Origin president Rob Meyerson told reporters how the Blue Origin craft uses 'deep-throttling' to use its rocket at full power for takeoff but at just 18% of full power for controlled landing of the propulsion unit. The cargo/passenger unit will return to earth using parachutes.
The Blue Origin team have kept a low profile in the Space Tourism race but appear to see sub-orbital space tourism as just a stepping stone to full orbital personnel and payload flights.
Unlike other private space projects, they are using hydrogen power for their rocket. Something they say is more difficult but ultimately much cheaper than the alternatives.
